But I really love this ROM, it’s really smooth and gives your G2 Phone a full ICS experience without lag that I’ve had on my other older Android smartphones.

How to Unlock SIM on your G2 Phone!

howto-unlock-sim-g2phone-4

Couple months back, I let my best friend borrow my G2 Phone so he can use it over in Papua New Guinea, a small island country somewhere near Australia.

Well, the G2 Phone can be SIM unlocked for those of you who don’t know, meaning you can use it on any SIM-enabled GSM network such as AT&T and others around the world.

Here’s one downside to it all though, because T-Mobile is on 1700Mhz for 3G internet data, you won’t be able to get 3G data on other networks outside T-Mobile. But you will get Edge, which is slow but you will still be able to access the int

For those of you who want a slightly faster ROM on your G2 Phone that runs ext2 filesystem, you might want to try installing the PyroMod ROM, which is basically CyanogenMod7 ROM the runs on ext2 filesystem.

To install the PyroMod ROM for the G2 Phone, you will have to install a modified ClockworkMod Recovery, which allows you to re-partition your SD card with ext2 filesystem.

After that, you can simply flash the PyroMod ROM as with any other ROM.

CyanogenMod 7 ROM for G2 Phone! [Gingerbread]

cyanogenmod-7-rom-g2-phone

I’ve been switching on and off different ROMs lately and if you are looking for a G2 Gingerbread ROM that runs with the least bloatware, you might want to check out the CyanogenMod 7 ROM.

There’s three different flavors of CyanogenMod 7 ROM, stable, experimental, and nightly. Stable ROMs are great but they don’t get updated often and I prefer the nightlies, which get updated on a daily basis.

You can download CyanogenMod 7 ROM nightlies here:

Virtuous Unity ROM for G2 Phone! [Gingerbread][Sense 3.0][HTC Sensation Port]

virtuous-unity-rom-g2-sense30

The Virtuous Unity ROM for the G2 Phone is a ROM ported straight off the latest OTA version of HTC Sensation, which comes with Sense 3.0.

This one is similar to the Virtuous DoubleShot but the UI is slightly different, more HTC than the extra additions added for the other MyTouch 4G port.

I kinda think this is one of the best Sense 3.0 ROMs out there for the G2 Phone, you can try it out and let me know what you think.

This ROM can also be overclocked to 1.516Ghz.

*IMPORTANT: On a G2 Phone, you need to make sure you have

How to Install Desire Z HBOOT Bootloader on G2 Phone!

desire-z-hboot

For anyone looking to install one of the newer Sense 3.0 ROMs ported off the HTC Sensation or MyTouch 4G Slide, you will need to install Desire Z HBOOT bootloader on your G2 Phone to replace the Visionary bootloader.

Why? Well, simply the Desire Z bootloader offers a bit more disk space for /data directory, making it compatible with the mentioned ROMs.

Will this change/hurt my G2 Phone? No, you can still install any ROMs after your install Desire Z HBOOT Bootloader, it won’t affect anything other than that it gives you the ability to run the mentioned ROMs.

Insert Coin ROM for G2 Phone!

insert-coin-rom

Perhaps you have HTC Sense UI fever?  If so, you can get the Insert Coin ROM (yes, insert some coins) that features a mix of Sense 2.1 and 3.0.  The ROM itself is rather slow (although based on CM7) as I wasn’t able to get great Linpack/Quadrant speeds even overclocked, but if you don’t mind sacrificing speed for the Sense UI, this is a surely great ROM to try out on your G2 Phone. Download ROM zip file here or check he

How to Unroot Your G2 Phone!

unroot-g2-phone-3

For some reason you might need to “unroot” your G2 Phone, perhaps to return it to T-Mobile for warranty, or you are just tired of using buggy G2 ROMs.  Honestly, every ROM I’ve tried so far is a bit buggier than stock ROMs, there’s some issues with touchscreen and camcorder on the CM7 and also issues with network connectivity on the MIUI.  I am sure they will fix the bugs eventually but until they do, I decided to go back to stock ROM by unrooting.

How to unroot your G2 Phone?

Just download the following zip file, copy over to your SD
